Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos , is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician to join its Maintenance and Engineering team.

What is the job about?

The Facilities Maintenance Technician requires performance of all general plant maintenance duties including electrical, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, HVAC, machine installation, mechanical, electrical, and automotive type repairs. As a Facility Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of the property grounds. This position reports directly to the Maintenance/Facilities Manager and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (primarily Mon-Fri).

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and trouble shoot type of repair required; analyze the root cause, and determine sequence of steps needed for effective repair.

  • Perform preventive maintenance per schedules to ensure longevity of building systems and equipment.

  • Assist subcontractors and maintenance technicians as required.

  • Perform manual and electronic record keeping and information retrieval functions.

  • Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, etc).

  • Maintain grounds inclusive but not limited to grass cutting, snow removal, security lighting, and general upkeep.

  • Ability to prioritize maintenance requests and work based on urgency and severity

  • Works closely with Maintenance/Facilities Manager and Environmental Health and Safety in regards to inspections and repairs.

  • Move material as required, pick-up or deliver material using car/truck or forklift.

Key Success Factors:

  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments and equipment required to perform tasks at hand.

  • Able to be certified in the usage of Forklifts, Hazardous Materials and Personal and protective equipment required to perform maintenance work

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds; Able to bend, squat, sit, walk, and stand

  • Knowledge of personal computer and software

  • Positive and professional attitude to help communicate effectively when addressing maintenance concerns, providing updates, and explaining needed repairs.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and troubleshooting abilities.

Posting, Reporting and Work Relations:

This position will report to Maintenance/Facilities Manager and may take functional direction from the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The role will also work closely with EHS, other members of engineering group, and other business managers and employees across the organization.

Your background

We imagine that you have:

  • High School Diploma, GED/HSE/HiSET or equivalent *required.

  • Vocational or technical school in maintenance or related field *plus

Competencies

Good oral and written communication, ability to lead small teams to achieve desired results, and desire for continuous improvement to improve processes.

Work Conditions

Will require some after hours calls when emergency situations arise. This role will be hands on work in a non-conditioned and air conditioned environment. This role will require the ability to be on feet most of the day.
