Shrewsberry and Associates Construction Project Manager in Indianapolis, Indiana

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Project Manager for our Construction Services Division out of our corporate office in Indianapolis. The Project Manager is the primary Shrewsberry representative responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of a planning, design, construction, and/or demolition project. The Project Manager directs and supervises activities related to contract administration, design process, permit submittals, change orders, submittals, procurement, project financial projections, and schedule requirements to ensure projects are completed in a quality, safe, timely, and financially responsible manner. This position would be working at an airport and may require night work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for all aspects of project management including program development, budget, schedule, and management of project team for assigned projects
  • Serves as a resource to the client/owner and project team by providing technical knowledge and expertise in the requirements of design and construction management
  • Develops and maintains a master project management plan, including full project schedule and budgets
  • Advocates the proactive identification and resolution of project risks, performance issues, and anticipated challenges.
  • Establishes project controls and procedures
  • Negotiates and manages contracts with designers and contractors
  • Ensures required project documentation is prepared, reviewed, approved, and maintained in accordance with the projects standards and procedures.
  • Assists the client in communicating with its management, staff, community, and news media
  • Conducts project based communications both external and internal communications with the project team
  • Establishes, executes, and/or oversees project procurement and bid processes
  • Manages design team and assists with design reviews, design cost reviews, constructability review, value engineering studies, and assists with obtaining building permits
  • Provides general construction management and observation including coordination/monitoring of GC activities, architects/engineers, partners, lending, and financing sources, etc.
  • Review/recommend payment requests and contract modifications for consultants and contractors
  • Prepares regular update reports to clients
  • Assists with identification of appropriate changes in scope, with validating impact of changes, and manages documentation of changes
  • Ensures Project Closeout is completed correctly and in a timely manner
  • Provide client management skills to represent owners and look for opportunities for additional project work.
  • Compare information with Business Development personnel to pursue additional opportunities with certain clients and owners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Knowledge to apply for and obtain relevant construction permits and licenses
  • Excellent oral and written communication and documentation skills are essential
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under aggressive timelines and to contribute positively in an overall team environment

Education and/or Experience

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering, or construction related project management field of study, from an accredited college
  • 5-10 years of project management experience in a professional environment
  • Some Mechanical experience a plus
