WestRock Company Assistant Sheeter Operator in Indianapolis, Indiana
GENERAL PURPOSE: The Assistant Sheeter Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the Sheeter to cut paperboard to correct size, and with the grain going the correct way for an offset printing operation. They help perform all auxiliary tasks of running the sheeter while the Lead Operator is responsible for job accuracy and quality.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Retrieves correct paperboard stock from warehouse using clamp truck.
Break down rolls and loads them onto the sheeter; manages roll waste and recycling.
Sets machine with paper guides for the correct size of paper to be sheeted; sets decurler as appropriate, verify caliper is correct.
Runs test sheets; examines test sheets to detect defects and verifies conformance to work orders adjusting machinery as necessary to correct production problems.
Observes operation of machine to detect and correct machine malfunctions such as blade or belt adjustments.
Keeps pallets in palletizer, writes out load tags, wraps and/or bands pallets, and other tasks to keep the sheeter in production.
Will be responsible for other duties as assigned by Sheeting Manager and Sheeting Operator.
Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, security procedures and instructions.
Performs all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPE to perform duties.
Performs other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
1-year work-related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or training, or equivalent combination of education experience required.
Must possess adequate mathematical ability, including a strong understanding of measurements.
Must possess strong problem-solving skills.
Knowledge and use of micrometer and tape measure.
Forklift experience preferred.
Strong computer literacy preferred.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work with little supervision.
