Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Area Production Supervisor to join its Horizontal Machining group.

What is the job about?
The Area Production Supervisor will assist the APU Production Manager to organize and motivate employees toward achieving departmental goals for safety, quality, training, on-time work orders, housekeeping, and other areas of continuous improvement.
This position reports to, and will take functional direction from, the Fire APU Production Manager and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (principally Mon-Fri).
Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.
Your main responsibilities:
Train each employee to develop and use safe work practices. Support the development and implementation of safety initiatives.
Develop employee awareness, provide effective leadership, and implement systems to ensure that only quality products are manufactured and delivered to customers.
Select employees and staff production lines to accomplish the production schedule.
Develop employee skills and provide cross-training for all critical tasks.
Plan, execute, and manage daily work to meet production schedules.
Identify, document, and implement initiatives resulting in improved quality and profits.
Develop, initiate, and support Lean Manufacturing activities to reduce waste in the value stream.
Prepare and conduct performance reviews in a timely manner.
Lead and/or facilitate company teams to improve operations, solve problems, and optimize processes within PPU.
Establish work practices that minimize the environmental impact of the processes associated with the department, reduce the consumption of resources, and reduce the waste stream.
Educate employees to heighten awareness of environmental concerns and sound environmental practices.
Recommend budget amounts and control costs to meet the budget.
Direct and supervise employees on a daily basis with minimal support of manager.
Follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
Understand SAP confirmations and insure process is followed.
Key Success Factors
Key measures include but not limited to production order performance, Employee Motivation Survey, lost time incidents/near misses, improvement proposals, and on-time performance.
Posting, Reporting, and Work Relations
This role will work closely with Logistics, Quality, Engineering, and Safety to meet business needs.
Work Conditions:
Roughly 50% of the time will be spent on shop floor working with employees in an non-air conditioned environment.
Must be willing to work weekend shifts and overtime as required from time to time to meet customer demand
Must maintain a valid passport.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
This position requires the incumbent to stand for extended periods of time, frequently grasp tools, stoop, crouch, reach, stand, and walk when performing duties; twist and reach when assembling parts.
Specific vision abilities include close, distance and peripheral vision.
Lifting pumps and/or boxes up to 50 lbs.
Able to work in a non-climate controlled factory or field environment.
Your background
We imagine that you have:
HS Diploma or GED/HSE/HiSET or equivalent - *required
Post secondary education (Associate's or Bachelor's) degree *required
Minimum 3+ years production supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment - *much preferred
Manual and CNC Machining production experience *much preferred
Competencies
Building Effective Teams with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor employees.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Managing and Measuring Work using good working knowledge with an ERP system, SAP preferred.
Customer Focus with demonstrated ability to analyze and solve work flow problems.
Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.
