FLSA : Non-Exempt

Compensation Range: $ 23.00 - $26.00 per hour ( e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).

Hours Worked : Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week.

However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.

Position Summary:

The Cell Biologist II will support preliminary active compound discovery and testing. They will also support assay development with the key role to identify active compounds: screen compounds from “weak active compound” to a “potent and effective compound” using a variety of methods.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain mammalian cell culture lines, create cell line banks, and manage inventory.

  • Create transient and stable cell lines via transfection and standard cloning procedures.

  • Prepare media and other cell culture reagents.

  • Perform routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and sterilization procedures.

  • Perform strong aseptic techniques

  • Exposure to operating and programming laboratory automation and liquid handling

  • Update and maintain biological inventories.

  • Perform experiment documentation (ELNs).

  • Perform cell-based and biochemical assays.

  • Assist in any troubleshooting, operation, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation

  • Maintain a high-level knowledge of various aspects of laboratory operations

  • Receive tasks and information from scientist in charge regarding changes in processes, priorities, workflow, safety requirements or other information.

  • Meet regularly with the client to discuss progress, upcoming work changes, and any new items

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external contacts

  • Remain flexible to ever-changing needs in a positive and professional manner

  • Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the company Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.

  • Comply with clients and company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.

  • Follows the guidelines set forth in by clients and the company Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.

  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Biology or another related field.

  • 1+ years of related experience in a research laboratory.

  • Mammalian cell culture experience preferred

  • Biochemical and cell-based assay experience preferred

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
