JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Oracle Database Engineer, you will be responsible for database administration, design, development, and support applications available systems. You will be responsible for continuously enhancing the automation process of the database and should have an interest in DevOps to help us improve our software engineering practices. You will require to work closely with multiple stakeholders in order to understand their database needs. After understanding their needs, you will make recommendations and provide self-service offerings that will allow stakeholders to deploy, monitor, backup and maintain their databases for business need.

You will work with a fast-paced, skilled team of engineers, DBA’s, and developers across multiple high-profile projects. You will also participate in IT projects from inception of the project and daily maintenance phase of those projects. You should have a good understanding of cloud concepts. Core Requirements and Responsibilities:

Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following:

· Required: 5+ years experience running a large fleet of Oracle databases at scale, focus on installation, configuration, upgrade, performance, security, scalability, reliability, high-availability, and disaster recovery setup.

· Experience with AWS database administration, on-premises Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server and Mongo database administration, deployments, ideally RDS Postgres and Aurora Postgres, EC2 Oracle

· Experience in installing and upgrading Oracle 19c databases.

· Experience with RMAN database backup and recovery.

· Setup Monitoring, Backup & Recovery, High Available and alerting notification systems on AWS and on-premises.

· Perform analysis, design, implementation, and migration of data and application database code from Oracle to AWS- RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL and EDB PostgreSQL databases.

· Develop automation frameworks (Infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines) and tooling that will be consumed by the entire engineering organization.

· Container and container orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)

· Cloud-native infrastructure (AWS)

· Linux internals and network configuration and protocols

· Experience in creating shell scripts (Linux, Python is a plus).

· Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management (Chef, Terraform, Jenkins)

· Experience in Ansible is huge plus.

· Resolve complex problems by investigating and devising solutions for database operations. May include installations, configuration, tuning and maintenance of database management.

  • Hands-on end-to-end Database Development encompassing Database Design and Development working with cross-functional teams.

  • You should be able to debug application code written in PL SQL and PG SQL for different applications.

  • Understand the business priorities and requirements; architect/develop solutions to meet the business need and lead execution.

  • Work as an individual contributor and collaborate with multiple teams/vendors/consultants effectively.

· Provides after-hours, weekend support during maintenances and participate in on-call rotation (24X7)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Required: Primary: Oracle (Core), Secondary: SQL Server/Postgres(Mandatory), MongoDB (Desirable)

  • Required: Database Automation and scripting experience

  • Required: Oracle Performance Tuning & SQL query tuning with experience in PL-SQL

  • 5+ years of experience in Oracle administration and scripting experience and Oracle database administration and development experience in AWS environment

  • 3+ years of AWS cloud experience and DevOps experience preferred.

  • 3+ years of commercial database migration experience Orace/SQL Server to Postgres preferred.

· 2+ years of AWS RDS and Aurora cloud experience preferred.

· 2+ years of SQL Server database administration experience preferred.

  • Experience with other databases such as Oracle or SQL Server is preferred.

  • AWS RDS/Aurora Postgres or Oracle administration experience desirable

· Experience with Oracle database backups and recovery.

  • Enhance automated functions including monitoring, backing up, recovering, increasing availability, user management, access to controls and logging audits.

· Familiarity with standard tools and platforms that enable continuous delivery such as GitLab, Octopus Deploy, Kubernetes and ServiceNow.

· Nice to have experience with multi-tenant systems.
