The team of Novartis specialists within Insights & Analytics are on a data and digital transformation journey, using analytics to generate impactful insights for Novartis medicines impacting more than 500 million patients worldwide. The team is poised to enable easier, faster and reliable decisions for Novartis divisions across the globe. Your responsibilities include but not are limited to: • Direct team management, via demonstration of strong leadership and role modelling skills, to: Support and facilitate data enabled decision making for internal customers in Business Units with the application of data science techniques/methods on internal and external data. • Support CTS- CONEXTS business in building capabilities by involving in various initiatives e.g. Experimenting Proof of Concepts, New capabilities building, Knowledge sharing, Adhering to the best practices on Documentation and Knowledge Management etc. Empower team to build high performing team, Coach/Mentor team members for functional excellence and enable Associate development • Understand sophisticated and critical business problems from a variety of stakeholders and business functions. Formulate integrated analytical/data science approaches along with team for a range of business problems, discover actionable insights and guide team to automate process for effort and time reduction for repeated use. High agility to be able to work across various business domains. Empower the team, Groom and coach the team members in line with Novartis people development requirements and Novartis Values and Behaviors. • Lead a team of 8-12 seasoned Data Science professionals, work closely together with the Function Head/Group Head to shape and develop Data Science function and address evolving business and customer needs. Build analytical roadmap for customers. Lead delivery for Data Science projects related to Omni-channel marketing analytics, , Targeting & Segmentation, Predictive Analytics, Launch Analytics, Market Mix Modeling, Resource Optimization etc. • Guide and mentor the team on functional (Data Science) aspects helping them to formulate the project approach, evaluate multiple modeling options, review and storyboard the results, Articulate AI/ML enabled solutions/recommendations concisely and effectively to business users. Drive adoption of analytical inputs for strategic decision making • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, Institutions, and cross-functional teams to solve critical business problems, propose operational efficiencies and innovative approaches. Drive exploratory research to identify new areas of application of advanced analytics/data science in providing enhanced decision-making support. Independently identify research articles and reproduce/apply methodology to Novartis business problems • Coordinate, prioritize and efficiently allocate the team resources to critical initiatives: plan resources proactively, anticipate and actively manage change, set partner expectations as required, Groom and develop talent, implement succession planning and mentor associates for higher responsibilities. Conduct appraisals discussions with the team. Identify evolving skillset needs for the team, Recruit the right talent, Onboard of new members and train/upskill existing members • Ensure the proper cadence around Quality Control, Project Management, Customer Feedback, Team Engagement, and drive initiatives to improve these further. Identify operational risks and enable the team to drive issues to resolution, balance multiple priorities and minimize surprise partner concerns. Comply to all Novartis operating procedures as per legal/IT/HR requirements \n\n\n\n Position Title: Team Leader Advance Analytics Minimum requirements: What You’ll bring to the role: • Technical Skills: Extensive experience in multiple algorithms: Statistical and Machine Learning techniques like Regression (esp., GLM, non-linear, etc.), Classification (Trees, Random Forest, Boosting, SVM, CART, etc.) Clustering, Design of Experiments, Monte Carlo Simulations, Statistical Inference, Feature Engineering, Market mix modelling, Dynamic Programming and Optimization techniques, Recommender Systems, Time Series Forecasting • Data science programming languages and querying databases: R, Python, SAS, SQL/HIVE • Soft Skills: Project Management, Storyboarding and Storytelling, Interpersonal and communication skills, Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment, Strong stakeholder management skills, Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative and flexibility through effective and innovative leadership, Strong influence and negotiation, skills, Collaborative behaviors & strong “can-do” orientation, Continuous Learning, Managing change • Job Dimensions: Direct associates 8 -12 • Education (minimum/desirable) Masters (Or Bachelors from a top Tier University) in Business Administration or in a Quantitative subject area (e.g. Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Ops Research, etc.) • Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience in Data Science & Consulting. Experience in commercial pharma would be an added bonus. Prior people & project management experience. At least 2+ years’ experience in leading a team.
