The Director, EHS (SME) will design and lead EHS strategies, compliance and programs for global operations in alignment with Edwards’ EHS Policy, global standards and regulations, and business needs.
You’ll make an impact by:
• Provide strategic leadership for Edwards' EHS program, working across global manufacturing locations to align strategy in support of business needs and the EHS Policy.
• Maintain Edwards' Corporate EHS systems, procedures and tools, driving process improvement and standardization across global manufacturing locations.
• Develop and deploy Edwards Global EHS Standards as they relate to the EHS Audit and Compliance Assurance, including requirements and standardized tools and templates for regulatory compliance audits, ISO 14001 and 45001 certification audits, and internal standards conformance assessments.
• Plan and conduct EHS audits in coordination with external and internal stakeholders and partners. Prepare audit reports and maintain workpapers and related supporting documentation in accordance with professional standards.
• Manage relationships and contracts with ISO accredited registrars and global third-party auditing partners.
• Communicate significant compliance and regulatory risks to Edwards’ Senior Management and Legal Counsel. Provide follow-up and ensure that regulatory compliance issues are resolved in a timely and robust manner.
• Plan and direct complex projects and activities with the accountability for successful completion of all deliverables. Lead in identifying EHS risks, developing mitigation strategies, defining alternative solutions, and resolving issues in collaboration with cross-functional and/or matrixed teams

What you’ll need (Required):
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and 12 years of relevant EHS experience OR
• Master's Degree or equivalent and 10 years of previous related experience

• Experience working in a regulated industry
• Proven successful project management leadership skills
• Proficient in both Microsoft Office Suite and related systems
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills including high discretion/judgment in decision making
• Excellent documentation and communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives
• Expert understanding of EHS procedures while identifying applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems
• Expert understanding of related environmental regulations (e.g., Air, water, waste, energy)
• Expert understanding of general industry OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and ISO regulations
• Expert knowledge of financial mechanism that relates to EHS (e.g., budgeting)
• Demonstrated ability to manage one or more teams and provide coaching and feedback, including responsibility for all employee actions and partnering with HR on all aspects of employee relations
• Ability to develop and integrate metrics into the projects and operations that clearly demonstrate the value of EHS to the business
• Strict attention to detail
• Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization
• Ability to work and excel within a fast paced, dynamic, and constantly changing work environment
• Frequently interacts with internal and external management and senior-level stakeholders concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and/or contractual clarifications
• Lead briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives
• Require the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship
• Develop peer, cross functional and cross business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness.
• Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams to successfully implement global enterprise systems and related solutions
• Develop relationships and leverage them to influence change
• Support and solicit input from team members at all levels
• Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control

For California, the base pay range for this position is $138,000 to $195,000 (highly experienced).
