Job Description:

Metas Solutions has an "immediate opening" for an experienced Software Developer III - Senior Java Web Application Developer to work remote. In this role you will work with our organization to support CDC Wonder, which is a critical public health platform which supports the nation by disseminating public health-oriented data through a robust web application.

Responsibilities:

• Implement improvements to the CDC WONDERwebapplication. This includes working within the existing framework tomodifyand maintain complex HTML forms and Java server-side coding that creates and executes complex database queries of the CDC WONDER applicationand managingsupportingdatabase objects, and data. Improvements may include defect fixes, optimizations, development of new and existing features, and supporting research and development efforts for new analytic measures and visualizations for the WONDER online databases.
• Actively communicate withteam membersregardingassigned tasks.
• Take ownership oftasks which may not haveobvioustechnical solutions anddevelopclear and actionable plans tocomplete themin a timely manner.
• Identifyand refineacceptance criteria, anddevelopand performunit tests, integration testing, and regression testing and support user acceptance for delivered code.
• Documentprocedures, code, workflows,and activities asrequired.
• Attend andparticipatein various meetings to support CDC Wonder.
• Assistin Data Modernization efforts, which may include containerization,code refactoring, source control migration,implementation of Azure Data Factoryand other Azure Services, and Palantir Foundry, etc.
• Be available and responsive during core business hours.
• Submit monthly status reports on activities anddeliverables.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relatedprofessionalexperienceinvolvingdata-oriented analytic web applications.
• Bachelor'sor advanceddegreein ComputerScienceor related field.
• Proven ability toengage with client team members andself-motivatedtocomplete assigned tasksindependently.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills that enable communication with all levels of employees and management.
• Ability to support public health professionals, statisticians, and data scientists.
• 5+ years of professional experiencedeveloping and supporting web applications implemented inJava, HTML, CSS, XML,andXSLT;andusingANT build processesand IDEs such as Eclipse orVSCode.
• 5+ years of professional experience working with SQLbasedrelational databases, preferably Microsoft SQL Server, that support web application development.
• ExperiencesupportingSQLServerETL processes.
• ExperiencewithApache Tomcat servlet engine.
• Experience developing and supportingRESTfulAPIs that return XML and JSON.
• Experience usingsource code repositories such asTortoise, CVS, or others.
• History ofsupportingepidemiologists, statisticians, or other public healthanalyticsis a strong plus.
• Knowledge of Azure cloudservices, containerization such as Docker, andPalantirFoundry are a strong plus.

• Must be US Citizen or with the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance (PublicTrust 5) within a reasonable period.
