Description

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mid-Level Systems Administrator to join our team in Huntsville, AL. This position requires a solid understanding of system administration principles and practices, with hands-on experience supporting operating systems, servers, and cloud environments. In this role, you will contribute to the installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems, while ensuring the performance and integrity of our IT infrastructure. You will also play a key role in supporting business processing requirements and ensuring the reliability of systems through regular updates, backups, and audits.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • System Installation & Configuration:Install, configure, and maintain operating system workstations and servers, including virtual, cloud, and web servers, in line with business processing needs and operational goals.

  • Software Installation & Upgrades:Perform software installations and upgrades for operating systems and related software packages, following established IT policies and procedures. Coordinate schedules for updates and maintenance.

  • System Monitoring & Performance Tuning:Monitor system performance and apply tuning practices to ensure optimal operation. Identify potential issues and address them proactively.

  • Data Integrity & Solution Implementation:Ensure the integrity of workstation/server data by evaluating and implementing appropriate software and hardware solutions.

  • Backup & Recovery Management:Develop and maintain a regular schedule for system backups and database archive operations to ensure data/media recoverability. Support media management, including off-site storage and retrieval as required.

  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):Contribute to the development and promotion of standard operating procedures to streamline system administration tasks and ensure consistency across the organization.

  • System Audits & Compliance:Perform routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers, ensuring compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

  • Configuration Management:Help maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database, including documentation for system configurations and updates.

  • Collaboration & Support:Work under general supervision to support business processing needs, collaborating with team members to ensure that technical solutions align with organizational goals.

  • Policy Adherence:Ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures while managing system installations, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance tasks.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance

  • Ability to work on-site in Huntsville, AL

  • New hires assigned on this project will be required to undergo and pass drug and alcohol tests per our client's contract requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3+ years of experience in systems administration with a strong understanding of operating systems, server management, and cloud technologies.

  • Solid knowledge of system configuration, installation, and troubleshooting, including both hardware and software.

  • Experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, and managing backups and data recovery operations.

  • Familiarity with IT policies and procedures related to systems administration.

  • Ability to conduct system audits and maintain configuration documentation.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Salary Description

$60,000 - $105,000
