Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems – SE Architecture Team Lead (24-498) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.
The team lead is the first line of leadership for all SE Architecture team members and reports to the SE Engineering Manager. Is responsible for maintaining accurate metrics of team progress. Supports all team staffing responsibilities, including interviewing new candidates, dealing with team performance issues, and supporting team member growth and development. Is also expected to be technically competent in all of the work performed by the team such that they can act as a reviewer of products to ensure quality. Is responsible for defining and ensuring compliance with SE Architecture team processes. Some travel is required .
Essential Functions:
Must understand systems engineering, architecture, systems design, development, and integration
Experience working across organizations to define solutions
Ability to Analyze high-level needs and use a structured and logical approach to refine those needs into an integrated set of requirements that leads to a fielded product being desired
Working directly with multiple customer organizations and contractor organizations is a must
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings
Salary range for Colorado Springs: $124,900 - $187,300
Salary range for Huntsville: $131,100 - $196,700
Basic Qualifications:

An active Secret clearance is required to start
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM Math, Science, Engineering, or related discipline with 8 years of experience. Or Master’s degree in STEM Math, Science, Engineering, or related discipline with 6 years of experience
Understand systems engineering processes and principles and have a proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions
Experience developing system engineering artifacts:
Specifications
Interface Control Documents
Use Cases
System Architecture Descriptions
Trade Studies
Experience applying and using systems engineering tools for requirements management and Object-Oriented requirements definition (e.g., DOORS )
Experience working in an integrated team environment with system, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions
Engineering leadership, identifying and defining desired capabilities and fielding new capabilities
System-of-system definition, integration practices, and methods, communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users
Agile Iteration Planning
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using C2BMC processes and methods is desirable
Knowledge of C2BMC architecture and implementation is preferred
Experience in Ballistic Missile defense is highly desired
Leading/performing portions of the work and directing the activities of other systems engineers is also desired

Salary Range: $124,900 - $196,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
