The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Lead or Senior Project Engineer located in Huntsville, AL. The selected candidate will support the Space Launch System (SLS) program and rocket providing a critical heavy-lift capability, powering people and cargo beyond our moon and into deep space to enable diverse exploration, science and security missions.

As a member of the Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) team, the project engineer will be responsible for coordination, development, and implementation of engineering projects specifically within the specialty, interface, and integration engineering disciplines. Responsibilities will also include that of a Control Account Manager (CAM) and proposal responsibilities. The project engineer shall use their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to support teams within the technical, schedule planning, and earned value management areas.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Planning, coordination, execution of detailed engineering activities across multiple SEIT programs, projects, and systems

  • Supporting assessment and collaborative resolution of complex cross-functional technical issues amongst multiple diverse stakeholders

  • Manage changes to engineering Statement of Works (SOWs) and assess impacts to these changes

  • Support proposal development and lead engineering execution by identifying activities, resources, and tasks required to complete the work statement

  • As a CAM (Control Account Manager) for SEIT, work collaboratively to manage the schedule, budget, and technical performance metrics for assigned control accounts

  • Manage control accounts for assigned programs and projects (cost and schedule planning, integration, execution) using Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at a minimum of 50% of the time at the listed location.

Work Authorization:

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

  • 3 or more years’ experience leading projects or engineering teams

  • 3 or more years’ experience working both independently and in team environments

  • 1 or more years’ experience managing budgets/resources, including Control/Cost Account Management (CAM)

  • 1 or more years’ experience analyzing risks, issues, and opportunities

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 1 or more years’ experience in NASA Space programs or a related Space or Defense program

Typical Education & Experience:

Lead (Level 4)

Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 5)

Bachelor's degree typically 14 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 12 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for lead level: 114,750 – 155,250

Summary pay range for senior level: 140,250 – 189,750
