Our long-term client relationship with Boeing Corporation has led to a need for a Software Engineer on the Boeing Engineering and Technical Services (BETS-SWS) contract located in Huntsville, AL.
BETS-SWS provides support Boeing’s Houston-based International Space Station, Space Shuttle, and other site programs under the Boeing Engineering & Technical Services Support (BETS) contracts. BETS consists of six unique support areas, and the Barrios team provides software development support including the critical flight software used by NASA to support to ISS and Space Shuttle programs.

The Software Engineer will:
Work within the Command & Data Handling Software group under the International Space Station (ISS) Program.
Perform testing for eleven Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCI). This software controls ISS hardware that provides a livable environment for its inhabitants and provides the required data interfaces for experiments conducted on ISS.
Support release, development and testing of ISS Vehicle software, test tools, and lab equipment checkout used on the International Space Station.
Participate in requirements, design, code, and test reviews.
Participate in and conduct peer reviews of released products.
Develop test procedures and test applications for executable(s) to verify requirements, and develop release documentation.
Execute tests during informal and formal testing, and develop/release test reports.
Document discrepancies and problems.
Participate in Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs).
Support process improvement initiatives to facilitate and expedite software development and test.
Install and process system and security service packages.
Develop solutions to routine technical problems; utilize critical thinking and data analysis to identify software issues; and contribute independently to the completion of established tasks.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
BS degree in a computer, system science or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university and ten (10) years of related experience.
Proficient in the use of Excel, Word and Power Point.
Strong communication skills, and are capable of working in a multi-tasking environment while supporting multiple activates concurrently.
Must be capable of working with minimal supervision.
C, C++, Perl programming experience.
Software design life-cycle knowledge.
CMMI process knowledge.
Ethernet Development experience.
Experience with the Agile development process.
Prior NASA contract experience.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
