Radiance Technologies, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Mechanical Engineer to support a U.S. Space Force program. This position requires a talented and experienced Mechanical Engineer to contribute to a mechanical engineering team within a larger, multidisciplined team to perform the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process, including analysis/feasibility, planning/requirements, design, system development, testing, deployment, maintenance, evaluation, and disposition/disposal. The Mechanical Engineer will be required to contribute to space payload structural, thermal, and mechanical analysis throughout the SDLC process. The Mechanical Engineer will be required to manage the space payload hardware baseline and Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) profiles throughout the SDLC process. Responsibilities: Support the mechanical engineering team Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, rapidly iterate on designs and analysis to inform system trade studies, and drive space payload optimization. Perform structural analysis to identify bus non-compliance and perform iterative analysis with the bus-provider to optimize performance and reduce implementation/integration risk. Perform component interface analysis to ensure alignment and prevent connector reliability issues and any integration-induced connector strain. Perform environmental and performance testing on hardware to validate analysis and demonstrate design criteria and requirement compliance. Collaborate with multidisciplined engineers, including Radio Frequency (RF); Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT); and Electrical Engineers; on complex physics problems. Establish and manage the space payload hardware baseline and corresponding efficient supply chain throughout the SDLC process that balances cost, complexity, and quality. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills: Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant technical discipline. Proven ability to contribute to a mechanical engineering team for space applications. Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing through producing test plans, final reports, process instructions, or other equivalent activities. Experience supporting systems engineering technical reviews to include Design Concept Review (DCR), System Functional Review (SFR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Final Design Review (FDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), and Production Readiness Review (PRR). Experience with hardware, software, and documentation configuration management. Self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills. U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance. Required Experience: Minimum 5 years experience performing mechanical engineering activities across the SDLC process. Experience with mechanical design, packaging, prototyping, fabrication, integration, testing, and manufacturing. Experience with projects using Agile methodologies, Digital Engineering (DE), and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Experience performing detailed design activities, including iterative systems engineering; Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MSandA); mission thread development and analysis; Software-in-the-Loop (SWIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) simulations; trade studies; hardware/software design; and prototyping, necessary for the SDLC process. Experience with Government or commercial spaceflight projects. Experience with aerospace system lifecycle design for launch, mission operations, and end-of-mission disposal. Experience with mechanical drawing and documentation industry standards and procedures. Experience with space systems material handling requirements. Experience with structures, thermal, and vacuum design and testing. Experience with electronic instrumentation, LabView, sensors (accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, etc.), actuator , mechanical stands, and testbeds. Experience with 2D/3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or Rhino. Experience with space qualification requirements and processes for space systems. Desired Qualifications: Masters degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant technical discipline. 10+ years experience performing and leading mechanical engineering activities across the SDLC process. Experience developing and maintaining programs schedules in Microsoft Project. Certified Lean Six Sigma Belt (ICGB) or higher. Certified ScrumMaster (CSM). Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Active SECRET clearance.
