Amentum Space Exploration Division ISS ECLSS Support Systems Test Engineer #ADV0009RR in Huntsville, Alabama

Duties and responsibilities for maintaining life support systems aboard the ISS, discovering methodologies for making existing ISS ECLSS more efficient, and for troubleshooting and correcting anomalous phenomena aboard the ISS includes: Working as part of a team of engineers, chemists, and technicians providing support to NASA while maintaining a strong consciousness about safety. Supporting International Space Station (ISS) as well as all future exploration missions relating to Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS). Working to solve problems as they pertain to biofilm growth and mitigation using background knowledge of sterile environments and microbiology. Working with project level and flight system engineers as they define their operational requirements, system performance, configuration, component selection, safety, and quality before and during the testing phases. This consist of: o Involvement in the payload and project Test Readiness Reviews (TRR). o Work with NASA Quality to verify testing procedures. Assist with test planning and perform media preparation, autoclaving of materials. Schedule and coordinate machine shop schedule for parts (scrum) Prepare Alconox, antibiotics, light chemicals when needed.

Job Requirements: A degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biological Engineering or other related engineering field is required. A degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirement is a BS with 0 - 5 years of experience. Required Skills: Experience with bioreactor systems. Experience in biology laboratory teams, experience with biofilms preferred. Knowledge in microfluidic devices, chemical testing, chemical nutrients, water treatments. Knowledge of growth curves, spectroscopy, microscopy Experience with Systems Engineering requirements, risk developments, and trade study developments. Experience with some statistics/graphing software (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Ability to review documents and manuscripts. Preferred Skills: Experience in biology laboratory teams. Experience with biofilms.
