Job Duties/Description:

National Childrens Advocacy Center seeks a Bilingual Therapist, Hispanic Outreach Coordinator in Huntsville, Alabama responsible for providing bilingual (English/Spanish) research-based mental health services, crisis support, and assistance to child victims or alleged victims of abuse. Coordinate agency Hispanic Outreach efforts. Work alongside Child Forensic Interview Specialists, medical staff, members of the MDT (including child protection, local law enforcement, and the District Attorneys office). Provide a culturally-sensitive perspective, specific to the Hispanic community, to NCAC staff and MDT. Record and maintain accurate and current documentation of services, grants, payroll, and other records. Provide psycho-education and support groups for children and/or caregivers. Participate in individual clinical supervision and group consultations. Responsible for meeting service-related outcome measurements and providing appropriate data required by funding sources.

Minimum Requirements:

This position requires a Masters degree or foreign degree equivalent in Counseling, Social Work or a related field. This position also requires demonstrated knowledge and experience with: providing evidence-based trauma therapy to children ages 2 through 18; interpreting English and Spanish during crisis intervention, individual or group therapy sessions, medical exams, classrooms, and/or court; child maltreatment; children and/or families who are alleged to have experienced abuse; parent-child interaction; child development materials; the dynamics of child sexual abuse and neglect; cultural norms in Hispanic communities (i.e., family dynamics, parenting, discipline, and teen dating relationships); and utilizing DSM 5 for diagnosis and treatment. Such knowledge and experience can be gained concurrently through a combination of employment, internships (part-time or full-time) and/or academic studies. This position also requires verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish, and a license (or license eligible) in Counseling, Social Work or related field.
