IronMountain Solutions, Inc. is seeking aSystems Engineer candidate to provide technical advice and assistance to the Apache Attack Helicopter Project Management Office (AAH-PMO). This position will be located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. Candidates that have knowledge of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) requirements and principles related to system design is a plus. The candidate will be responsible for the duties listed below.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a systems engineer in the Development and Modernization organization for the Apache Attack Helicopter Project Management Office (AAH-PMO). Provide Systems Engineering assistance for Apache platform software upgrades and Weapons Integration upgrades.
  • Work with the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD) on airworthiness requirements to include the development of the Airworthiness Qualification Plan (AQP)/Airworthiness Qualification Specification (AQS), writing Airworthiness Impact Statements (AWIS) and obtaining Airworthiness Release (AWR). Where applicable, manage the Software Aviation Safety Integrity Levels (ASIL) burn-down and impacts to the AWR.
  • Perform systems engineering role of tracing system spec AQP/AQS requirements to Test Plans and Test Reports to ensure performance specification compliance
  • Support LRU, software integration, and VAL/VER efforts for the Apache platform
  • Provide technical expertise in the development of contract requirements packages for production and sustainment contracts to include statement of work and CDRLs.
  • Lead and/or support special team/studies and perform special projects/assignments as assigned.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings and written reports to management, customers, and other higher-level personnel.
  • Assess program cost, schedule, and performance risks related to your assigned engineering projects.
  • Provide recommendations, findings, and decisions to program PM and senior management in the accomplishment ofvarious Program objectives.
  • Keep PM informed of technical status of assigned tasks, program status, significant program events, controversial issues, program reviews, and other relevant issues.
  • This candidate will work closely with the Program Manager, other engineers, pilots, technicians, government contracting agencies, and vendors to ensure system development success.
  • Be able to meet challenging deadlines.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use tools or controls; normal physical activity (reach with hands and arms; climb stairs); and communicate effectively with all levels of employees and leadership. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.

Education and General Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline (Software, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) with at least ten (10) years of experience in Systems Engineering and platform integration activities.
  • Candidates must have a good knowledge of the Apache helicopter and/or other US Army Aviation rotary-wing platforms and must be highly motivated, a self-starter and be able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Requires expertise in the airworthiness process for hardware and software, e.g. MIL-STD and civil processes, qualification process (military and civil airspace qualification processes, component qualification, system qualification, and flight qualification) writing/reviewing/estimating Statements of Work, development planning, and test planning, and tracking Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) progress.
  • Experience in modular design, interface management, and open systems architecture
  • Knowledge of Modular Opens Systems Approach (MOSA) to system design
  • Knowledge of Model Base Systems Engineering (MBSE) an SysML/UML concepts to support requirements analysis and definition, and allocation, decomposition and traceability
  • Knowledge of the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) technical standard
  • Frequent interactions with stakeholders (requirements community, aviation platform offices, test support) and support to programmatic leadership (developing technical plans, technical cost estimates, support budget planning, answering taskers).
  • The individual must demonstrate the character and temperament to work within the Government/contractor program office team, external stakeholders, and industry partners, to facilitate platform integration requirements and resolve associated functional and performance issues.
  • The candidate should have experience performing technical oversight within the DoD systems acquisition and contracting process, from development to operational testing and production.
  • Understands requirement generation and subsequent validation/verification.
  • Expert-level understanding of core systems engineering and analysis disciplines and processes.
  • Experience with lifecycle readiness from System Requirements Review through system decommissioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and energetic environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to brief programmatically, strategically, and technically to senior leadership.
  • Customer focused and capable of representing the customer in community forums.

Clearance Requirements:Must possess or have the ability to obtain an active SECRET security clearance.
