THE POSITION

The State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, creative person with the required experience to work as a Corrections Activities Specialist.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Activities Specialist for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible for organizing, instructing and supervising inmate programs, leisure time activities, inmate work crews and sports within your assigned institution.

You will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and teaching programs at all levels of interest and ability in the areas of sports, games, creative and performing arts, and social recreation. You will be coaching or assisting in the coaching of various sports (basketball, soccer, power lifting, etc.) and demonstrating basic sports techniques and fitness equipment. You will be responsible for supervising inmate organizations and self help groups.

Work Hours and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment - 40 hour work week

  • Work Hours: 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm Tuesday - Friday and Saturday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
