Our client is offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in HUNT VALLEY, Maryland. The selected candidate will be integral to the accounting operations, supervising the accounting department, and ensuring the accuracy of recorded financial results. The Controller will also be entrusted with analyzing financial data and making recommendations that will influence the company's decisions.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise the activities of the accounting department, including directing tasks and checking progress on various accounting projects.
• Maintain accurate accounting records to enhance the accuracy of the company's recorded financial results.
• Process and review employee payroll in a timely manner, prepare monthly and quarterly payroll reports, and tax documents.
• Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to provide a clear understanding of the business's financial state.
• Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure accurate and timely review, processing, or close of producer reports, trial balance, P& L, general ledger, journal entries, and bank balance statements.
• Oversee the preparation of documentation for corporate taxes, sales and use taxes, and surplus lines tax filings.
• Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
• Develop a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounting policy and regulations and ensure the team's awareness of and compliance with these policies.
Requirements
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role is required.
• Experience overseeing month end close, leading budgeting and forecasting.
• Must have management experience leading direct reports.
• Prior experience in Auditing is essential.
• Experience with acquisitions is a plus.
• Knowledge of GAAP Accounting is required.
• Must be capable of Financial Statement Preparation.
• Experience in preparing Trial Balance is necessary.
• Proficiency in Corporate Tax Compliance is essential.
• Knowledge of Tax - Sales & Use is key.
