Ellwood Engineered Castings Company Melt Shop Supervisor in Hubbard, Ohio
Description The Melt Shop Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the melting operations within our iron foundry. This position is responsible for managing a team of skilled employees as they convert scrap metal into molten iron for casting. The supervisor will ensure that all melting processes are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include the following. Other duties will be assigned as deemed necessary by operations & staff management) Oversees the melting process to ensure safety and quality of Iron castings. Reviews production schedule to plan work and personnel assignments for the shift. Supervise all personnel and operations on the night shift, delegate, develop, train and coach employees. Maximize melting efficiencies to insure lowest electrical customer KWH/ton. Monitoring melting operations, including furnace performance, temperature control, and material quality. Managing inventory and ensuring the proper handling of scrap materials and additives. Purchase raw materials for melt operations. Ensure that proper departmental records are prepared and maintained. Coordinate incoming scrap receiving, trafficking of inbound and outbound railcars. Assist the EHS manager with the reports regarding safety and EPA. Ensures that reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner. Ensures that established policies, rules and regulation, and procedures are followed and applied in a fair and consistent manner. Conducts daily safety meetings. Review/approve Timesheets in UltiPro for payroll processing. Skills and Abilities Ability to gain comprehensive knowledge of the company's production environment, process, and its relationship with other areas. Ability to use analytical and problem-solving skills to determine the origin of MRP and processing problems and delays, and to initiate corrective action. Ability to handle multiple projects while meeting required deadlines. Ability to perform under diverse and ever-changing environment. Education and Experience Five years prior experience in related industry Bachelor's degree in business management or related field of study preferred with two years prior experience.
