Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
Is responsible for the daily operations of the Laboratory and direct supervision of all personnel. Performs clinical laboratory testing. Investigates and resolves problems/complaints from physicians, patients and their families, nursing, and other hospital personnel. Responsible for follow up, reviewing, and reporting all quality assurance issues including shifts and trends. Provides instruction to employees as designated by the Laboratory Director. Communicates to Laboratory Director all issues concerning the functioning of the Laboratory, and works closely with the Director to resolve such issues. Assist with preparation of bi-annual regulatory inspections. Completes technical or special projects as assigned. Must be capable of making management decisions in the absence of the Laboratory Director. Responsible for reviewing daily reports as assigned. Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the neonate, infant child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population. He/she will perform tasks as assigned by the Laboratory Director within his/her scope of training.
POSITION QUALIFICATION:
Must be qualified under CLIA guidelines for high complexity technical and general supervisor. Must meet one of the following criteria:
PhD in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical, biological science and 1 year of training/experience in Hematology and Blood Bank.
Masters in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical, or biological science and 2 years of training/experience in Hematology and Blood Bank.
- Bachelors in medical technology, chemical, physical, or biological science and 4 years of training/experience in Hematology and Blood Bank.

Certification as MLS(ASCP) / MT (AMT) is required.
Five continuous years of generalist experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
Must be proficient and knowledgeable in the following disciplines: Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, and Coagulation.
Five to Ten years of proven leadership preferred.
Good communication and computer skilled needed.
