General Responsibilities:
Staff Scientist to work in our Houston, Texas office under the direction of Environmental Site
Investigations Group Manager. This is a full-time position with benefits.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
May assist more senior staff on large, more complex projects.
Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments.
Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for approval by senior level professionals.
Evaluates moderately complex laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports.
May serve as team member or participate in meetings and communications with client pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
Over time, this position will come with opportunities to manage projects according to Terracon’s Project Manager standards and expectations.
Preferred:
Working knowledge of Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP) rules and regulations.
Worked on environmental site investigations at sites with chlorinated or petroleum-based dry cleaner solvents, DNAPL, or other similar types of contamination or similarly complex projects.
40 Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Trained.
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science.
A minimum of three years of previous environmental site investigations experience.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely using both written and verbal skills.
Ability to multi-task within flexible/fluid schedules and project needs.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and walking on uneven surfaces carrying at least 20 lbs. of equipment, and ability to work in extreme (hot/cold) weather conditions.
Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Ability to travel for overnight (including multiple days away) work assignments.
Ability to pass drug screening.
Possession of a U.S. driver’s license, with acceptable violation history.
