Job Description
David Weekley Homes is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated team player with strong analytical skills. This position will be located at our corporate office close to the intersection of I-10 Katy Freeway and 610W.
Primary Responsibilities
Using highly developed analytical skills and a team approach, participate in the month-end closing to produce timely and accurate financial statements
Prepare journal entries, run reports, perform inquiries, and complete general ledger reconciliations
Assist with Financial Audit and Bond compliance
Perform ad hoc analysis and manage special projects
Set up accounting processes for new business initiatives
Respond to questions from operations on a timely basis, providing a high level of support
Qualifications
Four year degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred
At least 3 years’ experience in the accounting field (preferably in financial analysis)
Proficiency in Excel a must and ability to pick up new things quickly
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
JDEdwards and Essbase experience a plus but not required
Comfortable working with all levels of management and ability to adapt communication to be effective with many types of personalities
Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, have strong analytical skills, problem solving ability and excellent communication skills
