KBR seeks a forward-thinking, dynamic individual to join our team as a Senior Human Spaceflight Strategic Scientist. As part of the team, the candidate will work, among other tasks, with the Human Exploration Division Commercial Lead and Human Health and Performance Contract Collaboration Director to drive the evolution of KBR commercial initiatives, pioneer strategies for human research programs, and participate in the formulation and crafting of business development proposals.
Responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership in Spaceflight – leverage expertise in human spaceflight research to identify emerging opportunities, assess technology feasibility, and conceptualize solutions that propel KBR and/or NASA spaceflight endeavors forward
Business Development Strategy and Implementation – drive the creation and execution of comprehensive human spaceflight solutions, contribute to the development of pursuit strategies, and target value generation opportunities across commercial and government customers
Engagement with Stakeholders – cultivate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders including government agencies and industry leaders by being a prominent ambassador for KBR advocating for commercial spaceflight
Thought Leadership and Innovation – stay at the forefront of technological advancements and industry trends and translate your insights into actionable strategies that position KBR as a leader in the commercial spaceflight landscape. Represent KBR for Human System Integration (HSI) initiatives.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation – contribute to the evaluation and management of human system risks associated with spaceflight activities and promote the advancement of human spaceflight standards and best practices
Qualifications:
Master's degree in engineering, human physiology or related field required.
Doctoral degree in engineering, human physiology or related field desired.
15 years of related experience
Research experience in human spaceflight with a track record of scholarly contributions
Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of guiding multidisciplinary teams and driving cross-discipline collaboration
Strong business acumen and strategic thinking abilities with experience developing and executing business development strategies
Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences
Knowledge of requirements and best practices pertaining to spaceflight activities, human research, and Human Systems Integration (HSI) in a spaceflight environment
Demonstrated passion for space exploration and a commitment to advancing NASA’s mission for commercializing Low Earth Orbit
Capable of representing KBR values in large public forums with industry equivalents
