Job Description

Your Team

Based in Houston, the Senior Director of Operations is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the Construction teams for delivery of up to 300 homes per year. The Senior Director of Operations will be well versed in all facets of residential construction for single family detached and attached for sale and for rent housing. Leadership of community performance will require forecasting, financial strategy, and thoughtful analysis to achieve quarterly and annual business goals. The position will have a keen focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience as measured by Avid surveys of homeowners. Senior Director of Operations will work closely with all other departments to advance new initiatives and construction innovations.

Your Key Deliverables

Operations:

Manage the field activities and processes to produce or forecast:

  • Cycle Times

  • Home Completions and Home Closings

  • Contractor / Vendor / Supplier relationships and determining allocations, bandwidths or risks based on business growth

  • Land / Lot condition acceptance and coordination with development team

  • Community presentation, jobsite cleanliness and quality of deliveries

  • Extras / Job Cost Review meetings and accountability

  • Customer Service Cost and Timing Controls

  • Communication / cross collaboration and processes that involve Purchasing, Sales, Marketing or Land

Strategy and Leadership:

Manage Construction and Customer Care team to deliver

  • Initiatives for cost controls

  • Initiatives for builder loads and carry

  • Initiatives for build time reductions

  • Initiatives for warranty cost tracking and reductions

  • Initiatives for job cost tracking and reductions

  • Establish and engage to create processes to improve our customer feedback scores as captured by Avid

  • Establish and engage in processes around communication, follow up and proper response time for resolving warrantable requests

  • Establish and engage in processes around New Home Deliveries, New Home Orientation and execution of those meetings with a Customer Focus

    Provide strategic relationship to Sales

  • Communication between departments

  • Reports to utilize between departments

  • Community Presentation

Provide Feedback / Insight / Support and Strategy to Purchasing

  • Work and cultivate lines of communication and collaboration between Operations and Purchasing

  • Establish processes and lines of communication to review, approve and correct Purchase Orders / Extra Purchase Orders and Take-off Errors

  • Collaborate on strategies surrounding housing budgets, vendor and trade bandwidth, supply chain issues to produce enhanced operations to the field

    Provide strategic relationship and vision to All Company

  • Strategies, cross departmental communication, process creation and community presentation

  • Communication with Purchasing on Strategies, cross departmental communication, value engineering and produce development.

  • Skills to include business plan reporting and forecasting, strategic solutions to provide value, and cost saving recommendations to achieve home delivery on time and at budget.

  • Endeavor to achieve ongoing improvement to the customer experience in their purchase of a Brookfield home or rental housing.

  • Serve as member of the senior leadership team where tasks will consist of continual process improvement, new product design and vendor relationship management.

  • Employee mentorship, engagement and development will be crucial and impactful to our business.

    Must Haves

  • Bachelors degree in construction management or related industry

  • 10-15 years in the field of production residential development

  • Experience managing multi departments

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Extremely organized and able to handle multiple projects and assignments
