We are looking for a Full-Time Research Assistant I to join the UTHealth School of Public Health in Brownsville, TX. This position will support the Cameron County Hispanic Cohort Research Laboratory. In this position, you will perform routine laboratory assays, instrumentation maintenance, and upkeep. You will also assist with the organization and upkeep of specimen archives in the freezer room.

Position Summary:
Under close direction of senior research staff, conducts activities to support research projects.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Performs lab assays- ELISAs, Multiplexing, DNA/RNA extraction,
- Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of specimen bank archive.
- Responsible for maintenance of lab equipment.
- Pulls and organizes specimens for shipping/testing
- Keeps inventory of lab consumables for specific projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
- General knowledge of research fields.
- Bilingual is preferred, but not required.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
- No years of experience.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
