Job Description

David Weekley Homes is seeking a Regional VP/Director of Finance to join our Team. This role supports our Houston, Austin, Dallas and San Antonio markets and will require moderate travel to each city within the region.

This person will offer data-driven guidance to regional leaders to strategically invest and maximize returns. This person will be responsible for continually monitoring and analyzing available intelligence to advise leaders regarding course of action as market conditions change. This role reports directly to the Regional President with a dotted line to the CFO at our Houston headquarters.

The successful VP/Director of Finance will exceed financial objectives, improve returns in each market and provide reliable underwriting and financial results consistent with projections.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with Division President, VP Land and Land Team, and Purchasing Manager to develop price/absorption scenarios and to ensure complete and consistent feasibility and underwriting

  • Collaborate with Land Finance Team to determine preferred land development finance structure

  • Utilize market intelligence to make data-driven recommendations

  • Work closely with DP’s to establish correct community level pricing model

  • Update underwriting in accordance with current market conditions at community launch to recommend sales pricing and market position

  • Review community proformas to maximize profitability and pace, identify impact of delays and cost overruns and recommend a course of action

  • Responsible for ongoing community performance and sensitivity analysis with consideration of competitive environment and market conditions

  • Provide ongoing analytical support to identify opportunities for margin and ROI improvement

  • Perform project underwriting to actual performance reviews

  • Review monthly financial statements and address as appropriate

  • Review monthly and quarterly margin projections with Project Managers and Division Presidents and advise on strategy as needed

  • Lead and facilitate quarterly SOD (State of Division) forecast process and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) budget process

  • Hire, train and develop regional finance team members

    The Candidate We Are Looking For: Education & Experience:

  • 8 years minimum experience in finance/accounting working for a production home builder is a must-have requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related course of study

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Able to effectively contribute and present insightful strategic analysis

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
