A Payroll Clerk position has become available through Robert Half at a flourishing company seeking a highly-organized individual. In this position, the candidate will be responsible for data entry, reconciliation of timecards, paycheck distribution, and providing statements to various departments. This vacancy is based in the Houston, Texas area and is a permanent opportunity. Candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills and excel at working with both the internal team and external customers.

Our client located in Downtown, Houston, TX is seeking a Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist must have 3+ years of full cycle in house payroll, must have a high attention to detail, and be tech savvy. The Payroll Specialist will be processing full cycle payroll for 200+ employees that are multi-state. Multi-state experience would be a huge plus. This is a direct hire opportunity working hybrid after training paying 64K plus a sign on bonus, excellent benefits, and paid time off.

What you get to do every day

  • Maintain employee confidence by delivering instruction and training to employees regarding the function of payroll-related systems including entry of timesheets, online access of pay statements, etc.

  • Build and run custom reports

  • Data entry into spreadsheets and the payroll system

  • Maintain office efficiency by fulfilling clerical duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, photocopying, etc.

  • Retrieve reports as instructed by administering and/or distributing

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Collect and organize timesheet approvals by contacting employees via email and phone

    Requirements - Foundational knowledge in in-house payroll

  • Deep understanding of payroll systems for 100-500 employees

  • Full Cycle Payroll experience desired

  • Multi-state payroll experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources (HR) Administration

  • Banner experience highly desired

  • Adeptness in Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to easily learn new systems

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • Excellent data entry skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must

  • Payroll software experience preferred

  • 3+ years of previous payroll experience

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
