Description
The Painter is responsible for maintaining and improving the physical environment and facilities of the University and by doing so helps to provide a clean, healthy and comfortable work and study environment. Assists and helps to keep up with all the construction and renovations of classrooms and offices, including texturing walls, floating, sanding and painting walls, doors and equipment on the UHCL campus and at our Pearland campus.
Duties:
Maintains campus wide room painting schedule and paint work orders.
Renovations and new construction – textures walls, floats, sands and paints walls, doors, and equipment.
Paints exterior equipment/buildings.
Maintains shop and equipment cleanliness and inventory.
Provides instruction to Maintenance Technicians when they are assigned to paint or finish work.
Qualifications
Required:
High School diploma or GED
Minimum two years of work experience in a commercial setting.
Knowledge of the different types of paints and stains and the ability to use them over different types of materials.
Ability to patch and texture damaged walls surfaces and recognize the end result of different knap types in rollers.
Ability to determine the type of primers which are compatible with paints being used to protect different surfaces.
Ability to lift dead loads of up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis.
