JOB SUMMARY

Designs and develops new products using sound engineering principles. Proposes modifications and solutions to problems with existing products. The mechanical engineer performs various engineering calculations including stress analysis. Creates bills of material and assembly instructions. Acts as a focal point on equipment-related engineering projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plays Leading Role in Designing and Improving Oil Field Equipment within the Engineering department.

  • Model mechanical design concepts using 3D Parametric software.

  • Perform engineering calculations as required.

  • Perform Finite Element Analysis as needed.

  • Performs Failure Analysis, Participates in Root Cause Analysis.

  • Check drawings produced by designers and drafters.

  • Perform tolerance stack-up verification.

  • Prepare assembly instructions.

  • Prepare bills of material.

  • Interface with vendors for parts selection, material selection, machining, etc.

  • Develops plants for prototyping, controlled testing, field trials, and roll out of new or improved equipment or equipment subsystems.

  • Provides technical support to Maintenance Team and Field Operations Teams.

  • Participate in company safety meetings and safety awareness.

  • Other duties maybe assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 7 years of directly relevant engineering experience.

  • Experience with Oilfield Equipment Design (Mud Pumps, Top Drives, Travelling Blocks, Etc).

  • Ability to read, comprehend and write in English.

  • Ability to effectively present technical information, to colleagues, customers and vendors.

  • As per mechanical engineering degree requirements.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • AutoCAD, Math Cad, Solid Edge, Solid Works, Inventor, Solid WorksSimulation, ANSYS

  • Manufacturing/Inventory software.

  • Spreadsheet and word processor software.

  • Valid Driver License.

  • Valid passport.

  • Up to 30% Domestic and/or international travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering expertise – machine design, strength of materials, metallurgy, thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid power.

  • Knowledge of, AutoCAD, Solid Edge, Solid Works or Inventor.

  • Knowledge of MathCAD and FEA Solid Works simulation or ANSYS.

  • Knowledge of drilling engineering principles, drilling practices and drilling rigs.

  • Knowledge of drafting principles.

  • Design creativity

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Software

  • Knowledge of oilfield regulatory requirements
