MD Anderson Cancer Center Materials Management Associate Director - Warehouse Automation in Houston, Texas

Associate Director CSC

Execute MD Anderson Logistics and Distribution strategy and the Day 1 operational plan for Consolidated Services Center (CSC) by seamlessly integrating with Clinical areas and future Clinical Services Building (CSB) and HALs.

Achieve the Clinical Nursing service satisfaction through the execution of the operations plans to achieve Safety, Infection Control, Courtesy, Accountability, Efficiency and Innovation ambition.

Drive overall CSC success through developing integrative and tactical value stream management structure, roles and responsibilities, practices, and productivity metrics.

Manage in person the daily warehouse operations activities: safety, receiving, put away, storing, picking, packing, shipping, inventory efficiencies.

Responsibilities

Safety & Infection Control Culture Enhancement:

Focus on proactive hazard identification, risk assessment and mitigation, safety training and record keeping program.

Drive IC audits in Qualtrics with the associated key performance indicators, daily management cadence, problem solving and coaching.

Ensure regular training on all material handling equipment, pick module operation, automation, robotics, testing and required certification.

Implement and enforce safety protocols, personal protective equipment and reporting of safety near misses, first aid, incidents and accidents in due time to ensure immediate corrective actions for a safe working environment for all warehouse staff.

Integrated Planning:

Develop and execute CSC strategy aligned with Materials Management and Supply Chain Goals as related to Safety, IC, Courtesy, Accountability, Efficiency and Innovation.

Implement and Execute Inventory Operating Cadence through established standardized workflows and metrics.

Ensure Master Data Governance: Item # & Desc., Cost, Stock, UoM, Classification, Reorder point, Lot size, Lead Time, Vendors/Distributors.

Implement master planning horizon and time fences to optimize WMS performance and efficiencies by activity.

Partner and integrate with Procurement on Invoice Exceptions resolution, Past Due and Open Orders management, Re-planning new PO ship dates.

Resolve escalations with Vendors on daily basis on life-supporting and essential items.

Warehouse Management:

Understand and ensure accuracy of WMS database structure and Master data: Location (zone/aisle/rack/shelf), Unit Of Measure (each, case, pallet), Packaging (types, dimensions, weights), Regulatory (wet/dry, HazMat, Temp/Humidity Control).

Maintain the equipment database, ensure quarterly preventative maintenance and inspections.

Perform advanced configuration of the WMS and automate metrics reporting.

Lead hands-on system integration testing, user acceptance testing, training of super user and warehouse personnel to improve WMS functionality and lean processes.

Coordinate technical support for site or network operations and systems.

Serves as site lead for systems implementations and modifications.

Manage order fulfillment associates to ensure 98% daily order fill rate.

Process order cancellations before order fulfillment processes the orders within agreed Value Stream lead time and process cycle time.

Review the MD Anderson dashboard and inventory reports, balance labor availability to determine the optimum SKU mix and quantity and prepare bulk shipments for all MD Anderson locations.

Coordinate quality control processes for select products before shipment.

Process returned products: Check-in, classify, and record product returns promptly.

Oversee shipping and receiving discrepancies and RMA's(returns/credits).

Perform cycle counts when a picking error has been reported to the warehouse and maintain accuracy on inventory in the Inventory Management System.

Establish operational leading/lagging metrics for critical warehouse activities in real time digital format.

Transportation Management System / Control Tower / Fleet Management

Oversee Medical Supplies, Line, DME Transportation and Logistics.

Effectively communicate and monitor current and future fleet needs with the management team.

Transportation network design emphasizes routing while auditing Key Performance Metrics.

Performance

Monitor daily and identify data inaccuracies and work within various departments to resolve them within the agreed upon accountability matrix and RACI.

Compile and analyze historical data to monitor trends and assist in developing and establishing KPIs.

Effectively articulate rationale for cost savings opportunities, including results of sourcing metrics for Executive Leadership.

Develop and maintain daily / weekly standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with industry standards.

Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.

Excellent hands-on leadership, influencing, organization, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

Lead, mentor, and manage operational teams, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Preferred Education:

Master's degree.

Required Experience:

Seven years experience in inventory, logistics or a related field to include five years managerial experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

Warehouse automation experience, warehouse operations background. Must have recent management experience. Hands on leadership skills and excellent communication skills are highly needed.

Work Schedule:

This position has a hybrid onsite/remote schedule. This individual must be flexible with work schedule.
