The Department of Statistics at Rice University, located in Houston, TX, seeks applications for one Lecturer position with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2025. The Department of Statistics is dedicated to the advancement of the scientific discipline of statistics, the innovative application of statistical science to meet modern scientific, engineering, and societal challenges, the expert education of students in statistics and other disciplines, and leadership in the statistical sciences broadly construed, at the local, national and international levels.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate level and masters level statistics courses, including mathematical statistics, at both levels, with a teaching load of two to three courses per semester. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to service at the department-level. The initial appointment is for one to two years, with the possibility of renewal.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field and conferred by December 31, 2024. Additionally, a strong background in R is required.
