Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center Lead Quality Assurance Specialist (Aerospace) in Houston, Texas

Summary

Serves as the Quality Assurance (QA) expert at Johnson Space Center (JSC) with extensive knowledge of quality requirements imposed by NASA Headquarters for human-rated and Non-Human space programs. Duties include: Ensuring implementation of agency and industry requirements into the JSC institutional Quality Management System; Manage the day to day operations of the QA group, ensuring team's skills are adequate, resolve issues and advise the Branch Chief on matters pertaining to quality.

Responsibilities

Serves as a technical expert for quality assurance programs by conceiving, planning, and implementing policies at JSC.

Provides technical and administrative direction to a Quality Assurance team of civil service and contractors in the areas of work assignment, funding/resource planning, personnel issue resolution, team accomplishments and training needs.

Plans and coordinates the efforts of Quality Assurance Specialists in the areas of procurement, contract surveillance, development, production, processing, testing and operation of flight hardware

Prepares and coordinates reports/work-related information for presentation and communication.

Monitors/reports on the progress of performance management concerns and recommends related actions, such as assignments, reassignments, promotions, tour of duty changes, performance appraisals, awards, and recognition to the Branch Chief.

Advises program/project managers in areas of quality assurance concerns and provide technical input regarding contract quality requirements.

Qualifications

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. To qualify for GS-14,you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level experience in the implementation and/or oversight of quality assurance processes and systems that have direct impact on the quality of aerospace products and/or services provided; experience conducting quality assurance audits/surveillances related to aerospace systems, equipment, materials and/or processes; and experience in the continual improvement of quality through advocacy and dissemination of advanced quality tools, techniques, technology, practices, policy, procedures, and training (such as practices for ISO 9001/AS9100, six-sigma, continual improvement, process control, and others).
