Internship Summary:

Kuraray's paid internship program allows students the opportunity to obtain valuable, applicable work experience in a fast-paced, and challenging environment.The program blends real-world experience with an extensive overview of the chemical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The internship will be 13 weeks in duration for the summer of 2024 with flexible start dates. Student interns must be able to work full-time. The internship will be split between a major project and daily tasks.

No Housing will be provided as part of the internship.

Position Summary:

The IT intern will support the Data Architect and IT department in developing, optimizing, and overseeing our company's data systems. The duties will include identifying the company's internal and external data sources, collaborating with various department personnel to determine their data needs and requirements, and using the information to create and maintain the data infrastructure for organizational employees.

The IT intern will be able to work on and become familiar with predictive analysis and data visualization techniques using relevant tools such as Python and Power BI or applicable Coding/Machine Learning languages and platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teams, departments, and management to devise an overall data strategy and architecture.
  • Build an inventory of data required to implement the architecture.
  • Design, develop, and deploy a plan for how data will flow through the enterprise.
  • Research and properly evaluate sources of information to determine possible limitations in reliability or usability.
  • Apply sampling techniques to effectively determine and define ideal categories to be questioned.
  • Compare and analyze provided statistical information to identify patterns, relationships, and problems.
  • Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts.
  • Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements.
  • Designate technical measurements of functionality, such as scalability, security, reliability, and performance.
  • Integrate new systems and data architectures into existing data structures and systems.
  • Design, develop, document, and deploy database development standards.
  • Design, develop, document, deploy and maintain a repository of all data architecture procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Pursuing a bachelor's in management information systems, computer science, computer engineering, or a related area of study.
  • Completed at least two yea s of college education before beginning internship.
  • Experience in Python and PowerBI
  • Strong academic performance minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA and extracurricular achievement.
  • Demonstrated communication and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven track record of adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity.
  • Must have legal U.S. working authorization to participate in the program.
  • Must successfully pass the pre-employment screening process.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
