Burns & McDonnell Field Operations Manager - Constructors in Houston, Texas

Description

The Field Operations Manager will work with the DHC Execution Manager, Construction Operations Leadership and/or Craft Superintendent with day-to-day management of self-perform construction operations field-based activities, and other duties required to execute construction ventures. This position will work on a diverse array of projects across multiple industries including but not limited to electrical transmission & distribution, aviation, manufacturing, oil & gas, power generation, and water.

  • Adhere to Burns & McDonnell’s safety programs, training, and policies as well as collaborate with project teams to manage Safety and Health compliance from direct hire personnel

  • Provide leadership and technical management to direct hire personnel, including Foreman, General Foreman, and Craft Superintendents

  • Responsible and accountable for all staffing requirements to meet project expectations with qualified craft professionals

  • Review all violations and provide guidance for corrective actions

  • Actively participate in incident investigations

  • Partner with construction management team to provide technical assistance, interpretation, and staffing recommendation during all phases of project execution

  • Collaborate with HR in the effort to recruit, develop, and train high performing direct hire personnel

  • Conduct annual performance evaluations of Foreman, GF, and Craft Superintendents

  • Assist project team in developing site mobilization and demobilization plan for direct hire personnel, tools, and equipment

  • Recruits, hires, develops, and retains employees

  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluation for selected department or direct reports

  • Responsible for interpreting policies, purposes and goals of the organization

  • Adheres and responsible for Burns & McDonnell Quality Control program

  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies

  • Responsible for diversity initiatives

  • Complies with all policies and standards

  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. and 7 years relevant construction experience Required or

  • Additional applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement

  • CPR/First Aid

  • OSHA 30 Certification

  • Valid Driver’s License required

  • TWIC required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Scheduling and Forecasting software proficiency

  • Excellent Communication Skills required, both written and verbal

  • Requires the ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Power Point, Word and other business software

  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced office environment

  • Ability to present in front of small to medium craft settings

  • Must have exceptional organizational skills to properly track training progress and maintain an organized database

  • Able to build and maintain good, positive, professional relationships with other Employee Owners, management, and field personnel

  • Speaking – verbally conveying relevant information in a concise method

  • Active Listening – respectfully listening and asking questions to create an understanding of required training

  • Reading Comprehension – comprehending work related reports and charts

  • Time Management – scheduling one’s day to complete high priority tasks

  • Coordination – managing one’s actions in relation to outside events
