The opportunity

We are looking for a Data Analytics Leader to join our team and help us deliver data-driven insights and solutions to our oil & gas clients. You will help our clients navigate the complex world of modern data science and analytics. We’ll look to you to provide our clients with a unique business perspective on how data science and analytics can transform and improve their entire organization – starting with key business issues they face. Your key responsibilities

You’ll spend most of your time architecting solutions and managing client engagement teams, working with a wide variety of clients to deliver professional services, and managing business development activities on strategic and global priority accounts.

  • Define and execute the analytics strategy and roadmap for oil & gas clients, aligning with their business objectives and challenges

  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts, ensuring high-quality deliverables, timely execution, and effective communication

  • Design and implement analytical frameworks, models, and dashboards to address complex business problems and generate actionable insights

  • Leverage advanced analytics techniques, such as machine learning, optimization, simulation, and forecasting, to optimize operational efficiency, optimize carbon intensity, reduce costs, and improve performance

  • Communicate and present analytical findings and recommendations to senior management and clients, using clear and compelling visualizations and narratives

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business leaders, engineers, and domain experts

  • Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in the oil & gas industry and the analytics domain

Skills and attributes for success

  • Assisting in the strategy and implementation of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Big Data, and modern Information Management

  • Helping our clients make data-driven decisions by working with structured and unstructured data sets, building out predictive models and advising our clients on data mining leading practices

  • Building and applying data analysis algorithms (data mining, statistics, machine learning, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, text mining, etc.) as appropriate

  • Designing, architecting and developing solutions leveraging big data technology (Open Source, Hortonworks, AWS or Microsoft) to ingest, process and analyze large, disparate data sets to exceed business requirements

  • Leading large-scale client engagements. Fostering relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels. Consistently delivering quality client services. Driving high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget.

  • Monitoring progress, managing risk and ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes.

  • Provides directional guidance and recommendations around data technology, data models, and data storage formats

  • Managing expectations of client service delivery.

  • Staying abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client's business

  • Effectively managing and motivating client engagement teams with diverse skills and backgrounds. Providing constructive on- the- job feedback/coaching to team members.

  • Fostering an innovative and inclusive team- oriented work environment. Playing an active role in counselling and mentoring junior consultants within the organization

  • Cultivating and managing business development opportunities. Developing and maintaining long- term client relationships and networks.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field, such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, or economics

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in analytics, preferably in the oil & gas industry or a related sector

  • Proficiency in data analysis, data visualization, and data storytelling, using tools such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau, Cognite, Palantir, Dataiku, or similar

  • Experience in applying advanced analytics techniques, such as machine learning, optimization, simulation, and forecasting, to solve real-world problems

  • Experience implementing AI/ML Ops, Model Release Management, Model Training

  • Experience using data mining and statistical tools

  • Solid pattern recognition and predictive modelling skills

  • Recommendation engines, scoring systems, A/B testing

  • Thorough business understanding of data science application and ability to communicate with key decision-makers

  • Hands-on experience with various big data technologies in one or more ecosystems (Hadoop, AWS or Microsoft)

  • Experience in leading and managing teams, projects, and stakeholders, with strong leadership, project management, and communication skills

  • A valid driver’s license in the US; willingness and ability to travel to meet client needs.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above in mathematics, information systems, statistics, computer science, or related disciplines

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory and AzureML a plus

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $173,000 to $395,100. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $207,600 to $449,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
