DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Municipal Courts currently has a part time employment opportunity available for a Customer Service Representatives for individuals who are self-motivated, customer service-oriented, pay attention to detail, and possess strong organizational skills. As an official of the Court, your responsibilities may include the following:
Cash handling to include but not limited to collection of fines, processing payments by cash, check, credit card and wire transfer.
Process City of Houston Parking Payments and schedule hearings.
Data entry of court records and transactions; must be trusted with handling matters of high confidentiality
Data entry of payment and fees in the Court’s case management system.
Scanning of court documents into the Court’s case management system.
High level of direct contact with the public, attorneys, court staff and law enforcement.
Must maintain optimum professionalism when interfacing with constituents.
Dissemination of court information as required and in accordance with Court policies.
Rotation to alternate court locations and/or sections for training.
Flexibility to work on holidays and weekends when scheduled in rotation
Other administrative and customer service-related responsibilities as assigned.
Must submit to annual background checks.
WORKING CONDITIONS
General office setting. May require long periods of standing or sitting at a computer terminal and interacting with citizens in person and by telephone. Must be able to work rotating weekends and/or holidays as needed. Must be able to travel to another court location on short notice.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Six (6) months of administrative or customer service-related experience is required.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Drivers License
PREFERENCES
Preferences may be given to candidates who are: Bilingual in Spanish, familiar with Court System Management and Resource Technology (CSMART) and its functionalities; who have documented heavy cash handling experience; heavy customer service experience, knowledge of court policies & procedures, and who possess excellent verbal & written communication skills.
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants, provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and satisfy all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
