Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage direct reports and lead interdisciplinary teams to establish construction methods and support activities. You will oversee the construction process, review plans and specifications for costs and constructability, manage corporate processes and procedures, and lead proposal preparation. Your recommendations for studies, lessons learned, project assessments, and new methods will optimize completion of project construction activities.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-NP1

Major Responsibilities:

Chief Construction Engineer

  • Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback

  • Develops and recommends the construction staffing plan for approval by Manager of Construction and prepares employee requisitions.

  • Directs construction activities of the assigned GBU construction staff, ensuring compliance with GBU Quality Management System

  • Establishes working relationships with GBU Functional teams

  • Approves staffing requisitions as delegated by the Manager of Construction.

Construction Operations Manager

  • Provides consultation, technical guidance and direction to Construction and other support functions

  • Manages the successful completion of activities related to the construction of assigned projects

  • Assists in development of standard construction method

  • Oversees the review of standard plans and specifications for constructability

  • Reviews and evaluates new methods and concepts

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive background in industrial construction projects, managing staff, providing leadership, maintaining good client relationships, and developing talent within the project.

  • Knowledge & demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H)

  • Knowledge of EPCM contract management. Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.

  • Must be familiar with current industry quality standards.

  • Cross function experience in another function such as engineering, procurement, contracts, etc is preferred, but not required.

  • General knowledge of performance management processes & planning

  • General knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development.

  • Advanced communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
