McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston , a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure clinical track Assistant Professor faculty position in the Department of Pediatrics , Division of Gastroenterology . The selected candidate will contribute to the department's mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services. A key requirement for this position is training in treating neurogastrointestinal disorders.
Position Key Accountabilities:
The Assistant Professor will provide direct patient care to patients in the Gastroenterology Clinic at the University of Texas Medical School Professional Building (UTPB) and consultations at UTPB and Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital. The Assistant Professor will provide direct patient care to patients and will evaluate, examine, diagnose, and treat gastroenterological and motility disorders for pediatric patients. Expertise is required to perform upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, antroduodenal motility testing, esophageal motiity and pH-impedance probe testing, endoluminal functional lumen imaging probe testing, colonoscopy, transanal irrigation, breath hydrogen analysis, polyp removal, foreign body removal, and therapeutic endoscopy. Experience in transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) would also be helpful.
Qualifications:
The selected candidate must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License. Special consideration will be given to physicians interested in developing career expertise in neurogastrointestinal (motility) and gut-brain disorders.
Candidates must be board-eligible or board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology and must be able to obtain a Texas Medical License.
