Houston Forensic Science Center, Inc Administrative Support Specialist - Latent Print Section in Houston, Texas
Job Descriptions:
The Latent Print Administrative Support Specialist is responsible for clerical and administrative tasks related to the latent print section. The Latent Print Support Specialist is accountable for communicating with stakeholders to ensure that accurate and timely results are released to the requesting investigator. The Specialist will also be responsible for the scanning of latent print evidence. Generally, he/she utilizes standard procedures to perform tasks under the guidance and direction of the section supervisor. The Specialist will exercise sound judgement to execute duties involving problem solving and maintain the confidentiality of all case files received. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Effectively utilizes appropriate tools for the tracking of calls, emails, and other client communication channels.
· Scans latent lift evidence into MIDEO database, ensuring chain of custody requirements are met.
· Responds to requests from prosecutors, defense attorneys and investigators, etc. regarding section case information in a courteous manner, providing a correct and timely response if possible or routing to the appropriate source for a timely and accurate response.
· Coordinates responses to court orders, subpoenas, and discovery requests, enlisting the assistance of section and other HFSC personnel to compile the requested records in a timely manner.
· Communicates effectively with stakeholders regarding case prioritization, ensuring responses are delivered in a timely manner.
· Performs other tasks as assigned
Required Experience:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in a business or related field is required. Relevant work experience in a forensic or law enforcement environment performing administrative tasks is strongly preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of six months experience of mid to high level administrative experience is required. Experience in a law enforcement or forensic environment performance administrative tasks is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability and knowledge of different forensic software systems including but not limited to: Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and/or MIDEO is strongly preferred. Demonstrated skill in all Microsoft Office applications is also required.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to learn new processes and systems quickly
Demonstrated skill in planning, organizing, drafting, and editing written documents
Excellent time management skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize essential tasks.
Demonstrated skill in effectively utilizing technology and related software applications, with proven expertise in Microsoft Office applications
Demonstrated ability to work in a challenging and dynamic work environment
