Phoenix Specialty, Inc. Senior Accountant in Houston, Pennsylvania

COMPANY OVERVIEW:  Phoenix Specialty, Inc. (PSI) is a 100% employee-owned company and is a leading manufacturer's representative and service provider for specialty parts and assemblies in the oil and gas industry.  PSI also owns Pro-Flo Sales (PF), a distributor of technical flow-control products. 

POSITION OVERVIEW:  The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting the Controller with the oversight of the Accounting function for both PSI and PF, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory/COGS and the general ledger.  This position is responsible for safe work practices while complying with all applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform analysis over revenues, cost of goods sold and inventory accounts.
  • Perform analysis over the accuracy and completeness of Cost of Goods Sold and the entire costing process through job profitability.
  • Work with the Controller to oversee the month-end close including the posting of journal entries and the reconciliation of all balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
  • Design and/or improve internal controls and accounting processes.
  • Work closely with operations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all inventory transactions from order through shipment/invoicing and collection
  • Maximize the Company's ERP system (M1) through the effective integration of all modules.
  • Coordinate other financial activities within the organization and other projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position may oversee a staff of 1-3 direct reports. 
  • Responsibilities include motivating and supervising staff, issuing clear instructions, assigning duties and reviewing performance.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree with focus in Accounting and/or Finance required
  • MBA or CPA preferred
  • 4+ years experience working in a Corporate Accounting environment preferred.  A mix of public accounting and industry experience will be considered. 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Office including
    • Excel/Word/Outlook
    • Powerpoint
  • Familarity with an ERP system (ECi M1 Preferred).

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • It is estimated that travel related to this position will be less than 10%.
