Summary
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (https://www.mtu.edu/mechanical-aerospace/) at Michigan Technological University seeks applicants for multiple Professor positions. Applicants with the required education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and accomplishments commensurate with a higher rank will also be considered for an appointment as associate or full professor. Applicants for the position are required to have earned doctorates in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field. All research areas are of interest, including space robotics, controls with aerospace applications, hypersonics, experimental mechanics, aircraft and ground vehicle electric propulsion, aerospace systems engineering, spacecraft thermal systems, NVH, and more.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop externally funded research programs in their areas of interest while fostering collaboration with other faculty, engage in both undergraduate and graduate teaching at a high level, and contribute to professional service.

Responsibilities
Develop externally funded research programs in your area of interest. Secure internal and external research funding to support graduate students and your research program.
Publish research results in conference and peer-reviewed journal publications.
Engage in both undergraduate and graduate teaching at a high level.
Successfully work with diverse individuals.
Foster collaboration with other faculty.
Contribute to both internal and external professional service.
Integrate safety practices into daily activities and commit to learning and applying continuous improvement strategies to everyday work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
Applicants for the position are required to have an earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
Required Experience
Experience in Engineering or science research resulting in scholarly publications and must demonstrate through experience, familiarity with financial/funding resources, and opportunities available to faculty utilized by U.S. Academic Institutions.
Desirable Education and/or Experience
Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and advise graduate students.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
Knowledge in any of the following research areas: space robotics, controls with aerospace applications, hypersonics, experimental mechanics, aircraft and ground vehicle electric propulsion, aerospace systems engineering, spacecraft thermal systems, NVH, and more
