Department\ Public Works/Traffic Services\ Pay Grade\ 6\ FLSA Status\ Safety Sensitive\ Non-Exempt\ Yes\ JOB SUMMARY\ This position is responsible for the maintenance of electronic components of parking equipment, managing inventory of parking lots, develop relationships with patrons as well as city staff.\ ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS\ Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.\ Analyze moving electronic parts, motors, cutters and feeders to determine cause of equipment malfunction. Resolve the problem by either reprogramming the equipment or replacing parts. If problem cant be resolved in the field, refer issue to supervisor.\ Manage the inventory of the parking lot to ensure the lot is used efficiently; make necessary adjustments when parking lot is full.\ Use electronic handheld devices and printers.\ Manage the inventory of the parking lot to ensure the lot is used efficiently; make necessary adjustments when parking lot is full.\ Required to rotate being On Call after hours to provide assistance to parking customers and repairing equipment.\ Organize and maintain accurate records of parking locations, assets, inventory, structures, equipment.\ Perform routine maintenance on parking meters, parking gates, and pay station devices.\ Seek remedies to parking problems and answer inquiries from patrons.\ Parking Technician Page 2 of 3\ City of Hot Springs, Arkansas Prepared: May 2024\ Prepare reports as necessary.\ Maintain a daily report of events and work productivity.\ Become familiar with geographical locations within the Entertainment District and the Downtown Business District in order to efficiently assist patrons to find their desired location.\ Collect monies from parking meters, courtesy boxes, and pay station devices.\ Inventory and audit parking spaces, equipment, signs, and traffic control devices.\ Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.\ Supervision Received:\ Reports to Traffic Services Supervisor.\ Supervision Exercised:\ Supervises No supervision.\ QUALIFICATIONS\ Education and Experience:\ High school diploma or GED and twelve months of related experience.\ Licenses or Certifications:\ Possess a valid drivers license.\ Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:\ Knowledge of electronic devices.\ Skill in trades, mechanical, electrical.\ Ability to effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.\ Ability to become familiar with rules for the City\'s paid parking programs.\ Ability to effectively communicate using a portable radio.\ PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS\ While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; frequently stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds.\ Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Work assignments can be general or specific and special events can cause schedule changes frequently.\ WORK ENVIRONMENT\ While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and vehicle traffic entering and exiting the lot.
