JOB SUMMARY
To assist licensed personnel in the delivery of quality patient care. Under the direct supervision of an RN, LPN, CNA and/or his/her designee, provide a safe environment.

Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Lifting, pushing, pulling up, transferring, repositioning patients.
Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions.
Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
Ability to successfully complete physical and agility test, all required health, and other screening tests.

Floats as requested by the unit manager, director, and team leader and/or supervisor /staffing coordinator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ability to perform, complete and document accurate safety checks
Provides for patient's personal hygiene: gives bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves, and assists with showers.
Provides for activities of daily living: assists with meals and feeds patients; ambulates, turns, and positions patients; provides fresh water and nourishment between meals.
Provides a safe environment
Provides for comfort needs of patients.
Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees.
Utilizes resources and materials in an efficient and safe manner.
Maintains a safe and clean environment for patients and co-workers; transports patients and equipment as appropriate.
Reports observations of a patient to the nurse caring for the patient to ensure professional assessment.
Instills confidence in the patient by maintaining a neat and clean appearance and performing duties in a competent and caring manner.
Shows dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.
Maintains good working relations among all nursing unit personnel and other hospital employees through appropriate communication.
Ability to take directions from licensed and administrative professionals.
Responsible and accountable for all actions.
Accepts reassignment as needed to provide necessary care for all patients.

Required Experience
Education: High School Graduate or GED equivalent. BLS Required.
Appearance must be neat, clean and professional. Must comply with Clinical Standards of JSMC Dress code.
