The Role

As an Automation Engineer, you are responsible for carrying out project work at our customer. You delve into complex architectural and security issues every day. You translate the chosen strategy into concrete solution building blocks based on the latest developments within your knowledge area and work on both the configuration and implementation sides. You have an outside-in view which means you can easily find your own way within Kyndryl, check references and apply best practices

In the role of an Automation Engineer, you will proactively carry out your work based on your knowledge and personal attitude. This ranges from translating the design into implementation and setting up the associated rollout instructions. In addition, you are a source of information for third-line questions: when it comes to knowledge, you are 'the person to go to'. You come up with tactical solutions for the customer and design them thoroughly. This includes issues about connections, migrations, security and determining the required performance. In short, a varied job with a lot of independence!

As an Automation Engineer, you also have to help other teams with automation. Good skills in transferring and training others are therefore important. Furthermore, documentation and being able to express the concepts well are important. For example, the input that must be given on a test strategy.

Your daily tasks include:

  • Automating manual actions;

  • Technical design and management of the (cloud) environments;

  • Performing upgrades (new versions of components) and updates (patches);

  • Logging, monitoring, optimization of the environments;

  • Set up and use CI/CD;

  • Release Management;

  • Capacity Management;

  • Setting up management processes.

The growth path for an Automation Engineer typically progresses through several stages, each focusing on deeper technical expertise, leadership, and broader organizational impact:

  • Senior Automation Engineer - Lead more complex automation projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to strategic automation initiatives.

We offer a gross monthly salary of a minimum of €4.178 to €5.500. The salary offer may even exceed this range depending on the skills and capabilities you can bring to the team. Who You Are

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

You are familiar with several of the products, technologies and knowledge areas mentioned below, and know how to regularly apply them in your work, certification is an advantage:

  • Automation through Red Hat Ansible (certified);

  • Automatic provisioning of IaaS and Paas services;

  • Databases in an enterprise environment;

  • Secure by Design;

  • Minimum Red Hat RHCSA certification.

Besides that:

  • At least 4 years of experience with the technical management of private cloud environments;

  • Familiar with hosting (IaaS and PaaS), high availability, high performance, scalability and security best practices;

  • Management processes;

As this role is dedicated to supporting our distinguished customers in the Netherlands, proficiency in Dutch is highly preferred for this opportunity.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Knowledge of Linux (RHEL 8 and/or 9) is an advantage.

  • Scripting, especially Ansible;

  • Security techniques, encryption;

  • Zoning & Segmentation concepts of applications & data;

  • Version control / source code & configuration files => GitLab & Git client;

  • Dashboarding & virtualization;

  • Supporting tooling for monitoring/logging, antivirus, etc.;

  • Compute, network, storage design concepts;

  • Container techniques (Kubernetes);

  • Experience with CI/CD tools;

  • Experience with Linux and Red Hat;

  • Experience with Nutanix.
