Queen's Health System Wound & Ostomy Nurse Clinician (Full Time, 40, Day) in Honolulu, Hawaii
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborates with other health care team members in the development of an effective patient education program; provides consultation and direct care to patients with stomas, pressure ulcers, fistulas, Skin/Soft Tissue Infection (SSTI) and other wounds.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, and speaking.
• Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, arm/hand motions, climbing stairs, and pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds.
• Occasional: lifting up to ½ pound static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, stooping, bending, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulders level.
• Infrequent: kneeling, crawling, horizontal lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds, floor to waist up to 30 pounds, waist to shoulder up to 5 pounds
• Operates various hospital equipment, machines, instrumentations, computer, telephone, pager.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Exposed to body fluids, blood products, secretions, communicable diseases, chemotherapy drugs.
• Frequent exposure to needles.
• Staff may be exposed to physical and verbal abuse/violent acts by patients, families and visitors.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing.
• Certified in one (1) of the following wound certifications:
o Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB):
Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN)
Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON)
o American Board of Wound Management (ABWM):
Certified Wound Specialist (CWS)
• Current certification in Basic Life Support at the Healthcare Professional Level.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Two (2) years acute care nursing experience.
