Senior Manager, UX
Location: This role is home-based, hybrid, or office-based in Canada.
Position Summary:
The Senior Manager, UX works collaboratively across the business to develop best-in-class user experiences. The Senior Manager, UX develops, delivers, and manages an integrated UX strategy across multiple channels and works closely with the Chief Design Officer, the Director, DX Operations, digital teams, development teams, marketing, products, customers, and stakeholders to ensure our digital experience is consistent, top-notch, and on brand. The Senior Manager, UX needs to think strategically and tactically, driving UX adoption across the business, and lead a team to deliver. It’s about joining the dots of design, brand, technology, and customer needs to deliver a consistent and world-class experience for Bentley’s users across an omnichannel ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
Lead the collaborative design, development, implementation, and communication of well-documented processes and workflows for all major UX activities.
You lead the day-to-day operations of our Digital Experience UX Team and its members
You’re responsible for fielding inbound work and working with stakeholders to determine the priority of that work
You will work with the team to land the right work with the right person at the right time
You will work with other UX teams to drive and elevate the UX practice to the business through presentations, representation, and education
You lead the charge on developing Bentley’s digital interaction standards alongside the Chief Design Officer in addition to UX leaders from products and marketing
You will work to establish a base of engaged and accessible customers to leverage for testing, ideating, and refining design hypotheses
Lead the charge on defining requirements for all projects
Take data and meld them into ideas and concepts, and visualize them such that they are communicated effectively and compellingly to internal leaders, partners, and customers
Connect the dots between business requirements, innovation, analytics, and good design through the visual representation of ideas
Turn visions into concepts and artifacts to translate those concepts into designs that illustrate simplicity despite the complexity of the system, service, or infrastructure
Directly responsible for delivering aggregate data points, insights, problem articulation, potential solution designs, wireframes, and prototypes
Collaborate effectively with researchers, product management, development, marketing, and other team members
Use facilitative leadership skills to drive the best outcome for stakeholders, resulting in others learning from you and inspiring others to want to work with you
Be an expert in the emerging industry UX trends across desktop, cloud, mobile, and tablet platforms, competitors, and strategies, and share this information with the team
Respond to day-to-day questions from UX/UI designers, technology teams, vendors, developers, product managers, and product owners
Document ongoing progress, code migrations, and status on work assignments and communicate these updates during status meetings
Experience in writing detailed design specifications (IA, workflow, functionality, and layout, etc.), which technology developers use to build the product
Assist in QA to identify, document, and verify design bug fixes
What We Need from You:
Proven management experience
Examples of program development include methodologies, measurement, challenges, and outcomes
A professional portfolio showcasing problem-solving skills
Demonstrate a solid understanding of fundamental UX design competencies (research, interaction design, usability testing) and hands-on experience of any competence of choice.
An eye for detail
Presentation and storytelling skills
B2B, SAAS, and start-up experience a plus
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in human factors, psychology, communications design, related field, or relevant experience
Minimum five+ years of UX experience
Minimum two+ years of leadership experience a plus
Mastery of user interaction design skills
Familiarity with field and lab-based usability research methodologies
Ability to communicate design rationale and build consensus
Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems
Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to put ideas into a tangible form
Familiarity with the Windows and/or Macintosh Human Interface Guidelines is a plus
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
