School Summary

Georgia Connections Academy is a tuition-free, full-time virtual school for students in grades 5-12 throughout Georgia. The school is authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors, with a mission to maximize academic achievement for students who are seeking other academic options. The school is operated by Georgia Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Georgia, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by AdvancED, and GACA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Location: Working from home within the State of Georgia, with occasional assignments at the GACA office

Travel: Required travel for state testing events as assigned

Working from our office in Duluth, Georgia, or from your home in Georgia, certified teachers will utilize the Pearson Online Classroom to support and motivate students in working through their curriculum, deliver synchronous instruction, provide intervention and enrichment, and use data to diagnose student learning needs.

The Top Elementary Teacher will be responsible for:

  • Leading a dynamic instructional program focused on the success of each student through research-based practices that drive measurable performance improvements.

  • Fostering a love of learning and developmental growth in elementary students.

  • Designing and adapting curriculum to meet developmental and instructional needs.

  • Timely grading of assignments, monitoring student progress, and regularly reporting achievements to students and families.

  • Evaluating student progress and using data to implement effective instructional strategies.

  • Building strong, positive relationships with students through consistent communication via phone, webmail, and live online lessons.

  • Engaging with families and caretakers to create a supportive educational environment.

  • Collaborating effectively with the learning team and department colleagues to support a comprehensive educational experience.

  • Communicating clearly with all members of the school community, including district staff, parents, and community stakeholders.

  • Participating in all required in-person events and meetings.

  • Attending and assisting with all assigned state testing events.

    Term of Project: This position is based on student enrollment projections and is expected to continue through each semester of the 2024-2025 school year. At the end of each semester, school and department leadership will assess the status of this role, with the potential for extension based on student needs. Full-time positions include eligibility for medical, dental, and vision benefits.

Requirements

  • Technical Requirements: 2-step authentication setup required for all systems access.

  • Certification: Certified to teach elementary education in Georgia.

  • Experience: Proven experience in a virtual classroom setting.

  • Technology Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
