SCHOOL DISTRICT OF HOLMEN Special Education Assistants in HOLMEN, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Title: Special Education Assistant Qualifications: A high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent. Two years of higher education, an Associate Degree, or completion of a formal state or local assessment. Certified and/or eligible for Wisconsin certification as a Special Education Program Aide (883) from the Department of Public Instruction. Preference given to candidates with Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Certification. Instructional and/or supervision experience with school-age children. Experience working with students with special needs. Consistency in response to children; patient and reliable. Certified in First Aid and CPR within six months of hire date. Job Description: This position will be assisting with students with special needs (mild to severe). Responsibilities for working with students with special education needs include, but are not limited to the following: tube feeding, bathroom management, transferring students from wheelchair, supporting instruction, and behavior issues. *Complete job description available in the Human Resources Office. Reports To: Building Principal(s) - We have opens at multi buildings. Terms of Employment: 7.00 hours per day on days students are present. \$19.85 per hour. Carry out therapeutic regimens, such as behavior modification and personal development programs, under the supervision of special education instructors, psychologists, or speech-language pathologists. Employ special educational strategies or techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory- and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, or memory. Enforce administration policies and rules governing students. Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage. Instruct students in daily living skills required for independent maintenance and self-sufficiency, such as hygiene, safety, or food preparation. Prepare classrooms with a variety of materials or resources for children to explore, manipulate, or use in learning activities or imaginative play. Provide assistance to students with special needs. Provide disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities, such as restrooms. Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips. Teach socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification or positive reinforcement. Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
