Do you have a passion for scents and innovation? As a Scent Design Associate at IFF you can help to influence the market trends to create delightful scent experiences. This New Jersey based position is one that offers a collaborative work environment, with a chance to create work for both new and established consumer brands. The position will be located in our Fabric & Home Care Innovation Center in Holmdel, in the legendary Bell Works building.

As a Scent Design Associate, you will be responsible for developing creative strategies and leading regional projects. In this role, you will further develop business knowledge, potentially leveraging consumer feedback, and grow technical expertise, increasing IFF’s ability to win in the marketplace. You will utilize internal processes/programs/tools to support the overall Fabric & Home Care business strategy.

You will spend your time...

  • Learning market product knowledge / brand portfolio knowledge and how to leverage / share with Perfumery team to help guide the creative process

  • Develop a basic understanding of how to create an olfactive strategy to support the success of the Fabric and Home Care regional / category business

  • Learning how to effectively screen down fragrance themes against project objectives

  • Learning and leveraging different technologies for Fabric and Home Care projects

  • Leveraging potential cross category fragrance themes for Fabric and Home Care projects

  • Leveraging IFF’s Scent Portfolio for optimal efficiency in project work

  • Learning how to manage fragrance selection and identifying new winning themes for incoming briefs

  • Develop understanding of consumer olfactive preferences and apply on fragrance strategy and to provide feedback to Perfumers

  • Strong project management skills, communicating with various functions (perfumers, consumer insights, marketing, scent technology, commercial, management, etc.)

  • Expand knowledge of marketing and marketing tools at IFF and learn to partner with marketing on a regular basis in order to gain insights on customers brands

  • Understand technical / innovation programs and how they contribute to the overall category / customer strategy

  • Generate project reports and one pagers which can articulate valuable insights for x-category application to others in order to help maximize financial returns

  • Creating and facilitating olfactive/ fragrance trainings

Job Requirements

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree / Masters degree, preferably in Science or Business

  • Excellent olfactive capabilities (candidates will be required to complete internal smelling test)

  • 1-3 years of industry experience (fragrance house or consumer goods company)

  • Fabric Care and / or Home Care experience is a must

  • Project Management experience, ideally with some fragrance/ product development
